Recently launched in Brussels by the European Business and Innovation Centre Network (EBN), DigiBIC will take the best practices, tools, and results from EU research projects in cultural heritage, digital libraries, and preservation, and disseminate them to the wider Creative Industry (CI) sector and in particular to small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs).

Media Deals sees the project as an opportunity "to create a network for the CI in which public and private financiers can work together on a cross border level, supporting regional clusters in accessing European financing expertise, and to help equity investors identify innovative European businesses in the CI sector for potential investment."

The research was garnered through funding by the EU's Sixth and Seventh Framework Programmes for Research & Technological Development (FP6 and FP7) from the years 2002 to 2006 and 2007 to 2013, respectively.

The DigiBIC project directly involves the coordinators or technology partners from 14 FP6/FP7 projects whose results have been prioritized as of high interest and potential for CI's.

DigiBIC will initially focus on successful deployment from these 14 projects and related national initiatives and then leverage the success of this deployment to involve other research initiatives in ICT- based cultural and memory preservation services from across Europe.

Media Deals will contribute to the project by:

- expanding the DigiBIC network though Media Deal's many connections with SMEs and finance specialists

- providing input on the development of specialised training related to business models of mediatech companies

- and aiding directly in the development of research technologies in CI, addressing in particular issues related to business models and financing.
